How to Use YouTube Transcript

Search for a video Open the Search tab, type any keyword or topic, and tap the arrow button. A list of matching YouTube videos will appear. Tap any video to automatically generate its transcript. Once the transcript loads, tap Copy to copy the full text to your clipboard.

Paste a URL Open the Paste URL tab and paste any YouTube link into the field. The app accepts all standard YouTube formats, including youtube.com/watch, youtu.be short links, Shorts, and embed URLs. Tap Get Transcript to fetch the text, then tap Copy to copy it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does some videos say no transcript is available? Not all YouTube videos have captions or transcripts. Auto-generated captions must be enabled on the video by YouTube or the creator. Videos that are private, age-restricted, or have captions manually disabled will not have a transcript available.

Does the app work offline? No. An internet connection is required to search for videos and fetch transcripts.

Is the transcript exact? Transcripts are pulled directly from YouTube's caption data. Auto-generated captions may contain minor errors, especially for fast speech, accents, or technical terminology.

Does the app support languages other than English? The app interface is in English, but it can retrieve transcripts in whatever language the video's captions are in, as long as captions exist.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, location, device identifiers, or any other personal data. We do not track how you use the app.

Information That Passes Through Our Server

When you search for a video or request a transcript, your search query or YouTube URL is sent to our backend server, which forwards the request to YouTube to retrieve publicly available caption data. This data is returned to your device and displayed in the app. We do not log, store, or retain your queries or transcripts.

Third-Party Services

The app relies on YouTube's publicly available caption and search data to function. Your use of this app is subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy, available at:

Lucid Dream Journal & Trainer

Support

How do I record a dream? Open the Journal tab and tap the purple + button in the top right corner. Fill in a title, write your description, toggle the Lucid switch if you became lucid, rate your clarity, and add any emotions or dream signs you noticed. Tap Save when you're done.

How do I unlock Lucid Pro? Go to the Settings tab and tap "Upgrade to Lucid Pro", or tap any locked technique in the Techniques tab. You'll see the paywall with a one-time purchase option. Tap "Get Lucid Pro" to complete the purchase through Apple.

I already purchased Lucid Pro — how do I restore it? Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. Your purchase will be restored automatically using your Apple ID. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used when you originally purchased.

Why can't I see the price on my device? The price is fetched live from the App Store and displayed in your local currency. If it shows a dash or is missing, check your internet connection and try reopening the app.

The app isn't saving my dreams. All data is stored locally on your device. Make sure you have not cleared the app's storage in your device settings. Data is not backed up to the cloud, so uninstalling the app will delete your dream journal entries.

I have a question not answered here. Email us at: finnvetlemoe@gmail.com

Bilingual Reader — Support & Privacy Policy

Support

How to use the app

Getting started Open the app, paste any text into the input area, and tap Start Reading. The app will automatically detect the language of your text and begin reading each sentence aloud — first in the original language, then in your chosen translation.

Choosing a translation language Tap the Translate to card on the main screen to open the language picker. Choose from 65 supported languages. Your selection is saved automatically for future sessions.

Adjusting playback speed Tap the sliders icon in the top-right corner to open Settings. You can set the speed for the original language and the translated language independently, anywhere from 0.5x to 2x. Your speed settings are saved automatically.

Playback controls Once reading has started, use the controls at the bottom of the player screen:

  • The large center button plays and pauses
  • The skip-back button goes to the previous sentence
  • The skip-forward button goes to the next sentence
  • The X button in the top-right corner stops reading and returns you to the input screen

Background audio Bilingual Reader continues playing while your phone is locked or while you use another app. Make sure your phone is not set to silent if you want to hear audio while the screen is off.

Language detection The app automatically detects the language of your text when you finish typing or paste content. You can also tap the Detect or Re-detect button on the Original language card to trigger detection manually.

Frequently asked questions

The app is not reading aloud. What should I check? Make sure your device is connected to the internet. Bilingual Reader uses Google Translate to generate audio, so an active connection is required. Also check that your device volume is turned up and that you have not enabled silent mode.

Does the app work offline? No. Translation and text-to-speech both require an internet connection.

How long can my text be? There is no enforced character limit. The app splits your text into individual sentences and processes them one at a time, so very long texts will work fine and you can skip between sentences freely.

The detected language is wrong. Can I correct it? At the moment, the source language is detected automatically and cannot be overridden manually. If detection is incorrect, try re-detecting after ensuring the text is clearly written in one language.

My settings were reset. What happened? Your target language and speed settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting and reinstalling the app will clear these settings.
